BREAKIN BREAD continue to push their brand of “DIRTY, BEATBREAKIN’ FUNK AND HIP HOP and on this release Ghost shows why he is quickly becoming regarded as one of the UK’s top hip hop producers. Ghost has released two 12”s to both critical and underground acclaim.

His last 12” was in 1Xtra’s hip hop Top 10 for over a month and it sold so well on a worldwide scale that it quickly became Breakin Bread’s fastest selling release. His first 12” “Ghost Stories” just keeps selling and selling despite numerous represses and the fact it was first put out in 2003. Ghost is one of those producers who makes links and makes things happen. As well as long hours spent in his studio Ghost can be found bobbing his head in most of London’s hip hop jams or online in international hip hop forums. He also hosts a weekly show on the UK’s only dedicated hip hop station Itch FM and the results of all this are in depth, well thought out musical collaborations…..

A1 “The Payoff” (feat. Asaviour & Verb T)

This is a feel good piece of music, a play out tune that doesn’t compromise that true Hip Hop vibe. The emphasis here is on quality rather than false hype as Ghost shows us his musical side . On the mic Verb T & Asaviour swap lines that discuss the hustle of trying to make music in this day and age……” Man we work too hard tryna build these bars, but the pain that we’ve been through still leaves scars. Think you figured us out? Man you’re way off, cos we’re getting it all, it’s The Pay Off”.

A3 “The Plan” (Re-Edit) (feat. Kashmere & Severe)

This re-edit was originally featured on the Suspect-Packages compilation “UK Hustlerz…The Return” but this release is its first outing on vinyl. Originally taken from Kashmere’s” Raw Styles V2.0” EP, this edit totally switches up the original track giving it a serene feel with some intricate arranging of piano’s and bass. A re-edit that enhances the track. Wow!

B1 “Alien Invasion” (feat. Finale & Biscuit)

Ghost shows us his hard edged Hip Hop side on this track but he retains that musical edge to give us a tune which is suitable for both play out and head bopping on the Ipod. The collabo on this one is international with one of Detroit’s rising stars, Finale, who has his sights set on reaching all over the world, much as Ghost does. Also featured is Biscuit who adds extra weight with some dope flute playing.

B3 “Flip It” (Remix) (feat. Kashmere & DPF)

This is a Brand new mix of ‘Flip It’ originally released on the ‘Ghost Stories’ EP. On this one Ghost shows us that its not just about putting vocals over a new beat, it has to fit musically and here he changes the vibe of the original and gives it a new lease of life. We hope you agree that this is a deep musical offering. Ghost pursues his own path rather than conforming to what the media and majors seem to want. Ghost has also been working hard on his LP “Seldom Seen Often Heard” (to be released in early 2006). “The Payoff” and “Alien Invasion” both feature on the album. This 12” features original artwork from Will Barras and is the sort of thing not seen on many hip hop releases. Further artwork from Will is to feature on Ghost’s LP and future 12”s.
