Timber is up there with Rob Life as one of the UK's top DJ's for b-boys. The Breakin Bread Crew first noticed him when the b-boy internet forums used to go on about this crazy young DJ, who would get behind the decks and then jump out to hit the floor and go straight into a headspin!

There aren't many DJ's (in fact I don't know any others) who can play records and b-boy with a high amount of skill in both elements so he got booked for a Breakin Bread jam in double quick time. He didn't hold back when he played the Rhythm Factory and ever since then Timber has been part of the Breakin Bread family.

Without music, he would not be dancing and without dancing, he would have no need for music. The more he learns about music, the more he learns about dancing & the more he learns about dancing, the more he learns about music! Dancing has offered him an insight into DJing, especially for B-Boys, not just in terms of what to play, but when to play it and how to play it. Knowing how to play for B-Boys is almost as important as knowing what to play.

He believes that Hip Hop is about taking what others have done before you and making it your own. As a B-Boy & a music lover (something every dancer should be) the thing that excites Timber the most is hearing music that he's never heard before. As the main himself says….. "its like when you are presented with a plate of food which you'd never tasted before, the feeling you get when it agrees with you cannot be beaten. This is where I believe my insight as a B-Boy helps me as a DJ, its knowing what music agrees with the danceform that is B-Boying. To me, B-Boying is about dancing (not tricks!!) and dancing is about music, the more I learn about the various rhythms of the dance, the more I understand what music suites B-Boyin the best!"

This mix CD certainly reflects that with lots of rare breaks mixed in with a few golden era hip hop tunes & a couple of classic b-boy joints.

Shout outs come from b-boy legends such as Ken Swift, Alien Ness, Storm, Mouse, Ata, Rox Rite, Trac 2, Born, Forrest Getemgump and loads more. Hip Hop legends Pharoahe Monch, Supernatural, DJ Noize also pop in.

The mix includes hip hop tunes from Showbiz & AG, Gang Starr, Ultramagnetic MC's, Freddie Foxxx, Sunz Of Man, Masta Killah and more. On the rare music tip, Timber digs out some of his secret rock breaks, library, latin, funk, obscure cover versions and a light sprinkling of James Brown, Mongo Santamaria, Bobi Franklyn's Insanity and others. In Timber's own words….."

The CD's basically the hypest b-boy shit ever going through a journey of all the above in a super bad styleee!" At Breakin Bread we certainly agree with this and we're more than happy to support this up and coming young DJ by pushing his own personal take on music and dancing into a wide arena.

BIG UP DJ TIMBER!
