The social, First Friday Of Every Month

Breakin Bread's monthly intimate West End Session @ The Social, Little Portland Street, behind Oxford Circus.

Next Session: Friday 2nd April with SKEG & Nealy Whealy (Urban Allstars)!

The unofficial leader of the Breakin Bread team, Skeg is in charge of making sure shit goes down. Skeg has been running the Breakin Bread club night and record label since 1998, promoting the nights, signing artists, putting out records, playing countless gigs and festivals, the whole shebang.

Nealy Whealy (Urban Allstars Records) Guaranteed to rock a party and instantly recognisable despite their limited run of releases, the Urban Allstars releases having been blowing up parties worldwide since 2006. Originally a collective of DJs & record friends brought together by their desire to rock a set, the Urban Allstars also distinguished the need for quality tracks to hit the shelves on vinyl, and soon found a strong following as a label as well. With popular demand leading to each of their releases being sold-out across the globe within weeks of becoming available, the Urban Allstars are well worth checking!

Come and join us on FRIDAY 2nd APRIL!

Live Shows

We have been getting a few queries about what has happened to the monthly Breakin Bread event that we used to hold at The Jazz Café.

Don't worry, we will be holding more Breakin Bread events in the future.

We had to take a break from holding monthly events. We'd been doing monthly events for 11 years and felt it was time to break the cycle and come up with something new. Running monthly events you have to book different bands, DJ's and B-boys every month. We'd booked everyone we wanted to book a few times over and after performing with The Furious Five and Kurtis Blow on our 11th birthday it was a good time to be going out on a high.

On top of this the Jazz Café has got increasingly commercial and it was starting to feel like we didn't fit in there anymore.

We're going to be holding special events every 3 to 4 months in new locations around London. The dates and venues for these events will depend on the acts we're booking. We're still going to book B-boys for battles, we're still going to book the best DJ's in the soul, funk and hip hop scenes. But we're also going to make sure we have big acts for every event. We're talking about legends of the music scene from the last 30 years as well as the best new acts.

Right now we're working on sorting out the first of these events before the summer. Watch this space! In the meantime, we're still doing our monthly residency down at the Social.
This is a more intimate DJ affair where take the music a bit deeper. Check here for details!

For all the b-boys, if you want us to set up any particular battles please e-mail djskeg@breakinbread.org and we'll do our best to set them up.
